Vuze Release [4.5.1.0]

Vuze 4.5.1.0

There are a lot of very informative displays in Azureus so that you can tell what is going on with a particular torrent. These sub-displays become available if you double click on the torrent name itself in "Library" or "My Torrents" on the main display. This will add a new view to the main display named the same as the torrent you double clicked and if you select that page you will see the following sub-tabs:
  • General gives you information on the availability of torrent pieces and whether or not you have already got them as well as other high level performance information.
  • Sources tab gives you information about the sources of active peers in that torrent.
  • Peers lists the other client apps to whom you are linking and indicates some of the characteristics of those peers.
  • Swarm shows a very pretty graphical display of the peers with whom you are exchanging information.
  • Pieces shows the pieces you are downloading and who and how fast that is happening.
  • Files shows the status of the files inside the selected torrent.
  • Info shows the information from the my torrents tab.
  • Options shows the per-torrent options.
  • Console shows the per-torrent logging information generated by Azureus.

Tixati v1.46

Tixati is a new and powerful BitTorrent client.100% free, contains no spyware, no ads, and no gimmicks
Windows and Linux native versions available

What is Tixati?Tixati is a peer-to-peer file sharing program that uses the popular BitTorrent protocol.  This protocol allows many peers to form a cooperative swarm and download very large files with great efficiency.

How does it work?Once the Tixati software is installed, starting a download is easy.

First, the user finds a .torrent file on the web.  A .torrent file is very small, and contains meta-data describing the much larger file that is to be downloaded from a swarm of other peers.  These .torrent files can be easily found by using Google, or one of hundreds of Torrent Sites which also feature organized categories for the user to browse.

Once the user has chosen and downloaded a .torrent file from the web, they simply open it from within Tixati by clicking the 'Add' button.  After the .torrent is opened, Tixati connects to other peers in the swarm and downloads the desired files automatically, leaving them in a convenient 'Downloads' folder on the user's desktop.

BitTorrent

BitTorrent is the global standard for delivering high-quality files over the Internet. With an installed base of over 160 million clients worldwide, BitTorrent technology has turned conventional distribution economics on its head. The more popular a large video, audio or software file, the faster and cheaper it can be transferred with BitTorrent. The result is a better digital entertainment experience for everyone.
BitTorrent is a protocol (a set of rules and description of how to do things) allowing you to download files quickly by allowing people downloading the file to upload (distribute) parts of it at the same time. BitTorrent is often used for distribution of very large files, very popular files and files available for free, as it is a lot cheaper, faster and more efficient to distribute files using BitTorrent than a regular download.
BitTorrent 6 is a client. A 'client' in this case is a computer program that follows the rules of a protocol. For example, HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is the protocol used to download web pages and other content - like this page - and your HTTP client (or browser) is the program you use to get those web pages. Some popular browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Opera. To an extent, they all work the same way because they follow the same set of rules. The BitTorrent 6 client will give you access to the world of content on the protocol in a lightweight, fast and reliable package.
